Hello! The start of Uni is getting closer everyday which makes me happy and anxious at the same time, I really want to give my 100 per cent this year and avoid mistakes from a year ago.
With that said I am not sure I have ever mentioned in this blog that I am doing taekwondo and Aikido as extracurricular activities. I am more into Taekwondo than anything else and I am currently a member of the committee which means less time for myslef! Not that I mind, it always feels nice to help.
Therefore, this month is going to be pretty busy due to fresher's week, I even have to break through wood as a demo! But it is good to be busy, it keeps me active and pushes me away from laziness.
Now some updates on my rain forest project:
These were the trees that I originally made but I think I'll just keep the palm tree because there's still bushes to do and that other tree is more than a 1000 polys, not good.
I am struggling a little bit keeping everything under budget. I'd love to create a beautiful rain forest but that means lots of trees and textures and I can't afford it...
Therefore I have to come up with something else...
I believe the best solution is to place the scene near the beach, or somewhere where there aren't trees everywhere! We'll see...I'll figure something out.
And this is my survivor! I took a rough concept and refined it and this is the result. I can't wait to model her!
See you soon!
Carla.

3D time
Hello! As promised today's post is all about my progress on my rainforest plane crash project.
I started with the aircraft because I thought it would be the most challenging part to model but it turned out to be fairly straight forward and quite enjoyable to make.
Then I moved onto the interior, I started working on the cockpit making all the flight control panels but my poly count was quickly raising and I still had to do the passenger seats and luggage so I decided that it wasn't that important and so I moved on.
At this point I thought that my broken plane would count as a vehicle with a maximum budget of 5000 so I was happy making the seats but then I was told that because it's only a half a vehicle it's not considered one and that it becomes part of the environment.
It was going so well...
After I copied and placed all the seats I found out that my triangle count was close to 8000 and my limit was 10000. I only had done the plane! And I still had a whole rainforest to do!
I eliminated as much geometry as I could and ended up losing about 2000 triangles which was amazing. I still feel a little bit anxious that I might exceed the maximum triangle budget but I accept the challenge!
See you soon,
